Autonomic Function
The autonomic nervous system is the body’s way of constantly responding and adjusting to changes in order to keep the body in balance. Certain physical disorders may cause dysregulation of these involuntary responses. We hope to better understand the role of autonomic function on symptoms of individuals with lifelong illnesses.
Body brain connection visual
The brain-body connection describes how mood and stress can affect the health of your body. Is the reverse true? How does disease in the body affect your mental state? ARID seeks to support research that explores the body-brain connection with the goal of finding ways to improve overall health.
